Alphabet Bracelets (Alphabet Recognition Activity)

Learning the alphabet is one of the beginning reading foundational skills taught in Kindergarten! I am always looking for additional ways to teach the alphabet so that students stay engaged and interested in learning. My students ALWAYS love anything that we can make and wear including hats, necklaces, and bracelets. Knowing how much they love to create wearable items, I created this set of Alphabet Bracelets. These bracelets are simple to make, and they are perfect to wear home for parents to see what our letter of the day is!

These bracelets can be put in your literacy centers, morning work tubs, or used whole group during your letter of the day activities. Students simply cut out the bracelet strip (or you can have these pre-cut), color the pictures, add a little glue, and they are done!

If you would like to use these bracelets here, they are available in my TPT shop as a digital download. Simply purchase, download, print, and use! I hope your kiddos love them. 😊

Rhyming Word Clip-It Cards Learning Center

Are you a kindergarten teacher who is always looking for learning center ideas? I created this set of rhyming clip-it cards to add to my learning center rotation. The activity is very simple to implement in your classroom. Students look at the top picture on the card and then decide which picture (at the bottom) rhymes with it. Students then place a clothespin on that picture.

You can use this set of rhyming clip-it cards as a morning tub activity, learning center activity, one-on-one tutoring activity, and more.

I always print my learning center activities on card-stock for durability, and laminating will definitely help preserve the cards for years of use.

If you are interested in using these clip-it cards in your classroom, grab them here in my tpt shop! They are available as a digital download, which means you purchase and then simply print.

Jungle Themed Open House Treat Certificate

A few years ago, I had a Zebra Theme in my kindergarten classroom. Our school theme was actually "The Jungle" that year.  For our Open House night, I created these certificates to put on my new student's desks. The kiddos love to get sweet treats on Open House night, so I created this certificate to include a Zebra Cake (Little Debbie Cake). The cake was incorporated into the certificate to look like the Zebra's body.

If you would like to use these certificates in your classroom, here is what I did!

Here are the supplies needed to create the certificate.
*One Little Debbie Zebra Cake per student (They only come in packs of 2)
* Scissors, little baggies, tape
*Printed Certificate for the grade level you teach

First, I cut the package of cakes in half to create 2 individual cakes.

Next, I grabbed some baggies with fold tops.

I then placed each individual Zebra Cake in its own bag. I had to cut the top of the bag off so that it wasn't quite so big.

I then folded the baggie around the cake and taped the back.

I added the cake to the certificate on the Zebra's body, just like this! The kiddos loved them...(and so did the parents.)

Behavior Specific Clip Chart

Do your kids forget why they moved their clip in your classroom? Are you exhausted with trying to remember why each clip was moved? I created this behavior specific clip chart to help.

If your kiddos have behavior issues in the classroom, he or she places a clip with their name on it on the specific behavior that they need to practice. This will be a visual reminder for your students, and also for you. You can add extra clips for those students who may need to practice more than one behavior. You can choose your own consequences, such as practicing the specific behavior, or your kids can earn the right to take their clip off of the chart if their behavior improves.

You can use this clip chart alongside a traditional colored clip chart, or you can use it alone. You choose!

Big Rhyming Cards and Activities for Kindergarten

If you are a kindergarten teacher, you know how important teaching rhyme and rhyming at the beginning of the school year is. Rhyming is a foundational skill for reading and phonemic awareness! I start my introduction to rhyme using whole group lessons. I use large props when I teach whole group  so that all of my students can see them. I created this set of BIG rhyming cards (they are 1/2 page tall) to help. 😊

You can use these cards in so many ways! (Here are a few ideas.)

*Hand each student a card and let them find their rhyming match. (another student holding the rhyming pair)
*Hang one card from each rhyming pair above your group tables. As you call the students to line up, use the other rhyming pair as a reference. "If your table rhymes with hot, line up."
*Play rhyming memory by placing the cards upside down. One student flips over two cards and if the pictures rhyme, they win a small prize. (candy)
*Show both cards in each pair, and have your students help you think of another picture that would rhyme with the rhyming pair of words.
*Play I'm thinking of  a rhyming word. Show the students one of the picture cards in each pair. Give them clues to what the matching picture card may be until they guess it. (Example: Show them the house, and tell them the rhyming picture is a small gray animal that eats cheese. Let them guess.)
