Christmas Activities and Resources for Kindergarten

Are you a kindergarten teacher looking for ideas and resources for the month of December? December is such an exciting time in kindergarten for the kiddos! Holiday anticipation, parties, crafts and ornaments galore! December is also a very stressful and jam-packed month for teachers. Assessments, grade cards, meetings, and more.

Here are a few of the resources that I created to help keep students engaged and learning as the countdown to Christmas begins. Some of these activities can be completed independently, which can give you some time to squeeze in those assessments and grade cards. 💗

Click each link to purchase a digital download of any of these holiday themed resources. I hope you find something that you can use in your classroom! Happy Holidays!

Build a Digraph Snowman Literacy Center

Are you looking for more literacy center ideas for your classroom? Check out this build a digraph snowman center. Your students will love building these digraph snowmen during your center time! Students build the snowmen by matching a picture snowball with a beginning digraph snowball, and then add a head. Simple as that! I included a recording sheet for the kiddos to complete after building the snowmen. (This holds them accountable by having something to turn in.)

You can add magnetic tape to the back of the snowmen to create a magnet center! I found the magnetic tape in the craft section at Wal-Mart. Students can build the snowman on a magnetic surface.

Christmas Shape Creation Book

Are you looking for a Christmas Keepsake to send home with your students this holiday season? I created this shape creation book with that in mind. Send these books home before Christmas break. Parents will love seeing what their children drew, and they will keep these books for years to come.

Students change ordinary shapes into shape creations! Each page of the shape creation book has a different shape. Students draw to change that shape into a given holiday themed object. Some examples include changing a triangle into a Christmas Tree and changing an oval into a reindeer. This is the perfect way to let students practice shapes and environmental shapes, but it also gives them something to share with their family during the holidays.

I Am Thankful For....Turkey Craft

Are you looking for a Thanksgiving Craft to use in your classroom before Thanksgiving? If so, you may like my "I Am Thankful For" turkey craft. The craft is simple to use, and turns out ADORABLE. Students put the turkey together and then write the names of things or the names of people that they are thankful for on the feathers of the turkey. They can also write a sentence telling what they are thankful for on the writing template if you choose!

13 Math Around the Room Activities

Keeping kindergarten students entertained while learning can be a challenge if you are not prepared for every second of the day!

My kids can get very "wiggly" throughout the school day (especially during the afternoon). I created this set of "math around the room" activities to help with this, and you may find them helpful too.

It is very simple. All you will need to do is cut out the math problems and hang them throughout your classroom. I like to hang them on the walls, doors, whiteboards, and anywhere else that I can think of. Students then grab the provided recording sheets, hunt for the math cards, and then solve their "math around the room" problems. My class absolutely loves doing this!

I will have a few sets of these ready to go so that I can pull them out at anytime especially if my kinders are having an extra wiggly day.

Here are a few examples of some of the activities we use "Around the Room." If you want to use them in your classroom, grab them here. They are available as a digital download, which means you purchase and then download them instantly!
